d’Arta invests in further sustainable growth

Fuccino valei

Press release 28/11/2018:  d’Arta invests in further sustainable growth.

We wish to confirm that we have successfully concluded negotiations to purchase 100% of the shares of Agrifood.  With this acquisition we confirm our ambition to further strengthen our position in the market.

d’Arta was founded in 1988 by the families Talpe and De Backere.  Today the group consists of 3 production units in Belgium, Portugal and the UK.  The second generation of both families are continuing the story of sustainable international growth. The completion of the third production plant in the UK in the first half of 2018 and this acquisition in Italy, are clear examples of this strategy.

Agrifood was founded by the Picco family in 1989 and is, as is d’Arta, still a family company.  Agrifood distributes frozen vegetables which are grown and processed by the Covalpa cooperative in the Fucino valley in Abruzzo Italy.  They produce a wide range of ‘Italian style’ products with a focus on quality and food safety.  In a similar way to d’Arta, Agrifood invests in long term relationships with their customers and suppliers.

This acquisition presents a unique opportunity for both d’Arta and Agrifood to further grow their business.  The synergies will allow the company to offer more and improved services to existing customers in Italy.  And for our customers outside Italy we’ll have many new products to complete our already big assortment.

With the growing interest of the modern consumer in healthy food, sales of frozen vegetables are rising and d’Arta wishes to invest in this trend and will keep an open mind for other opportunities for sustainable growth.
